A Legacy of Innovation: SIGMA Corporation of America
The story of SIGMA began in 1961 when Michihiro Yamaki founded the company in Setagaya, Japan. Originally known as the SIGMA Research Institute, this visionary company has been at the forefront of optical innovation. Their journey through time has been marked by significant milestones:
- In 1961, SIGMA introduced the TELEXTENDER, setting a precedent as the industry's first teleconverter.
- In 1970, they unveiled the miniTEL 200mm F4, a lens featuring their original YS interchangeable lens mount, revolutionizing photography.
